DAY EIGHT - SATURDAY
We got up early, wanting to make sure we caught the boat. Gear and kayak hauled to the dock, plenty early. Dave was cooking breakfast for some of the American Plan camp guests. It's insulting to have the package that includes cooked meals, packed lunch and a thermos of coffee is named after the US. Dorothy was on shore leave, so all of the kitchen duties were down to Dave. Apparently the hired hand Paul was required to share in the kitchen detail. Left camp at 8:30 for a hair raising ride back to Britt. Dave cruised these channels and islands most every day, at full speed! I found when he said turning here, that meant hold on for a high speed 90 degree turn. There's an un-named cut, through the Outer Fox Islands, Dave takes to shave off a few minutes. He doesn't let up on the gas, I swear you could reach out and touch the bedrock shores as he blasts through the narrow cut. It was a long drive home, on the way we checked out Hartley Bay on the Upper French, access point to Bears Den Lodge. I napped for a bit, kept thinking what a great time David would have had at GBFC. We made it across the border one more time, without being searched. Not that we were afraid of being busted, it is just the hassle of having to unload everything and pack it back up. When we got to my place and unloaded my stuff, which didn't take that long. We took a group picture of the three guys, tanned and happy. The best Canadian Fishing Trip ever.
